Kayak Regatta 2025:
Save the River-Save the Hills was excited to celebrate the 21st Niantic River Appreciation Day's Kayak Regatta! Members joined fellow Niantic River enthusiasts on Saturday August 16, 10am–2pm. We welcomeed all fellow paddlers in any non-motorized vessel – kayaks, SUP, canoes – to join us in a fun-filled day on the Niantic River Estuary. Free Family Fun!!

 

Here's the tentative schedule:
9:30am - launch in the Niantic River and get to Sandy Point by 10am
10:00am - meet the Waterford Fire Boat at Sandy Point and parade in front of the Oswegatchie Hills
10:30am - arrive at Grimsey Beach across the River from the Hills to the songs of Geoff Kaufman and enjoy a continental breakfast on us!
11:30am - Listen to tunes being played by The Lowtiders!
12:30pm - Lunch at Grismey Beach (hot dogs, clam chowder and wraps) While you listen to Updates on STR-STH's Programs and comments from our elected officials
1:15pm - Short Kayak Races for braggin' rights and tshirts!
1:45pm - Drawing for Kayak! (Free for STR-STH members) and drawing for other STR-STH items for all participants.
2:00pm – Head back to your launch spot happy and full!

Location

Land site: Grimsey Beach in Waterford - 47 Oswegatchie Road. There is no parking here - access from the river only!

Launching Points with parking:  Three Belles Marina, Cini Park in East Lyme, Mago Point in Waterford. ​TO LAUNCH CLOSE TO EVENT, contact Deb Moshier-Dunn at 860-444-9247.

Meet Up Point for Parade: 10am off Sandy Point in the River with Goshen Fire Boat!
